The feeling of grass under his fingers, the crisp breeze that blew past stirring the dead leaves on the branches high above, birds chirping, sun shining on his face; all things he'd learned to cherish and love. Each day felt different. Some days felt lazy, some felt long, others felt bright, and still others felt sad almost. Days like today though were the ones he lived for. Autumn days with a bright sun and cold wind.
Dragon took a deep breath of the cool air and relaxed onto the ground with a sigh. He'd been laying here thinking of the time when he'd get a call from a distant friend. Her voice, her sarcasm, the tones carried when she spoke. Even when he could tell she was feeling alone her voice sounded like an angelic choir.
Last night though, when she'd shown up... He knew he hadn't shown it but the relief he'd felt at finally being able to feel her presence was like a breath of fresh air. She was just as he'd imagined her to be, but better in every way. Whatever magic she possessed that allowed her to find him, whatever it was that had transported her however great the distance between them, he was thankful for. Even with the dark history he had with such things. He knew that what she used or was given was good. He could feel it. The difference was nearly overwhelming and something he'd never encountered before. He felt no curse or hex or evil; only the calm of nature. Something he felt in ampules every day out in the garden as he was now.
Would she come to see him again? He could only hope. Having been left to rot away from the rest of the world as he was now she was the only hope he had. If this fell through... if he messed this up then where would he be? What would he do besides spend the long years left of his existence alone and without light. Even now that the darkness had ceased to feel cold and without end he sometimes felt lost within it. Perhaps he'd grown so used to feeling grounded by her voice that he had forgotten what the vast abyss felt like.

Marissa flopped on her twin mattress. Her hair covering her face and most of the bed. When was the last time she got it cut? She must have been 11 going on to that she grew a little rapid than normal people. But she was far from normal and the worst part is that she didn't know why? Why did she have these weird unexplainable abilities? To transport herself places she has never been by concentrating or flower child as it sounds feel herself there in that place or rather area. The ability to cast...spells? Although again she doesnt say some rhyme or mumbo jumbo its only when...again she feels. Damn go figure the one thing she doesnt want to do is the only thing that she can do to get her...gift? Per say going. She pushed herself of the mattress and placed her weight on her knees pulling her hood off. And sneaking her hand into her pocket and grabbing her phone. She swiped the screen typed a code and stared at her home screen the app Slyther. One of her co workers wouldn't shut up about it at her job. God come to think of it everyone at her workplace mentioned it at some point or another. And she just had to find out what the hype was about. Turns out its an app that checks people nearby or as far as 200 miles away. And calls random people. Same sex or same age or opposite sex...you name it. Most people she spoke to wanted 'that ass' per say just searching for a booty call.Others wet lonely like her but borderline suicidal...which unlike her..surprisingly she has out grown. But a week ago this guy named Dragon? Probably a fake name but nowadays kids are called apple so who knows. Called her and he was one of the nicest most interesting person she has ever met. And the fact that he didn't freak when she proof next to him.
She sighed wondering of what he would think about her scar. God her fucking hide scar thats on her bottom right of her lip. The thing disformed not just her lip but her smooth skin as well. Theres a trail on her body right under her left breast that snakes around her rib cage to her lower back. A scar about a little over a foot long and feels just as nasty as the bit on her lip. Man all the time that she thought she could open up and shoe herself some douche would make her feel like shit. 'Oh Shit! Maybe some surgery can fix that' The stupid fucks. She tapped the app and saw the number she saved. Would he pick up? She wanted to see him again. Man he was breath taking. And his eyes she had never seen a color so...mesmerizing. She tapped his Name and heard the run on the other side. And then it stopped. "Hey did you collect any gold coins? Or maybe jewels. Cause the no scales thing is still break in my heart you know"

He was back inside when she called. He'd just flopped on his bed, lazily towel drying his hair with one hand as he reached for his bedside clock with the other. A digital voice read out the time 12:37am. Past midnight, he didn't care. At the sound of her voice he smiled, pale brown eyes somehow brightening. Something inside sighed.
"Sorry no. I haven't been doing much pillaging lately." He laughed, feeling like his world opened up to be more than dark and lonely when she spoke. "Have you been cursing villagers lately?" He didn't know why people called her a witch. He didn't understand why. The scar? Couldn't be. When she told him about it he'd wanting nothing more than to trace it with his fingers. He didn't need to know how it happened or how. Dragon though she was beautiful. He could tell she didn't show her abilities to enough people, or any, for that to be the cause. Whatever reason he couldn't fathom, she made his nights bliss.

"Tsk tsl tsk Nope just the usual terrorising children with my grotesque face. Nothing like a good nightmare to get my blood rushing through my vein like a sugar high on Halloween. Oh how I live for that night. I Can show my true ability and kids think its the coolest tricks. But little do they know its real magic. But sadly no pillaging. Maybe next week...Hey Dragon...Do you think that I can stop by?" She had no idea why she asked. Or how she managed to actually sneak it in. But there was a part of her that did not want to be alone tonight. A voice reminded her that her boss demanded she stop working double shifts&when she didn't force her today as she clocks out to take a much needed Vacay. So she had two weeks payed off. And her being all by herself in her studio was not going to cut it. And playing now you see me and now you don't gets old rather quickly.
"Or...let me be honest. I need a distraction for atleast two weeks. Not saying that. That is all that I see you as. You are a..your too nice to..I..." don't want to be alone. God why couldn't she say it. "Could use a company like yours"

He found it hard to laugh along when she said things like this about herself. How she could casually speak so negatively about herself. He wanted to argue with her but didn't get the chance as her tone changed. The ever so slight shift had him listening more closely. A gentle smile touched his lips as he nodded into the phone. He had nothing better to do with his time and money. Even if she were just using him as a distraction he would happily oblige her. It wasn't often he was able feel this way toward anyone but somehow she'd managed to find a way through the darkness to him.
"You can stay for however long you wish." In truth he didn't want to be alone either. Unlike her though he'd resigned himself to a life of solitude a long time ago. At least being her distraction gave him back some purpose though it was nothing compared to what he had once been. "Whenever or whatever you need... I'll always be here."

She smiled into the receiver and let out a sigh of relief. "Talk to me please. So I can find you". Marissa got up from the bed and went Into her closet grabbing her backpack that already has all that she needs. She held the phone up to her ear listening to his voice trying to feel his surrounding. He was in a room...not outside. She took a few steps around her room trying to feel some open space and then she was there. The air was different she opened her eyes and turned around fast. "I'm sorry I should have asked if you were decent. I mean..." She dipped her hand into her hair twirling the ends. "I can wait outside of the room if you want". She tucked her hair out of her face and behind her ear. Man how she couldn't stand the Damn thing. Bits here and there going in all directions possible.

His heart skipped a beat as he felt the change in the space around him. Her presence felt like a glowing light; much like the sun had earlier. He followed it, turning his head to where he knew she stood. Blonde locks fell into his face, curtaining his eyes.
Unable to keep the smile from his face he sat up, laughing at her reaction. "Being shirtless isn't decent? And here I thought you wanted tosee my scales." He stood and moved easily to his closet, dark patterned tattoos across his back shifting over toned muscle as he moved. Ornate weaving lines spanned his shoulders and arms, a central design fanning out from the center of his chest. Every so often the intricate markings were interrupted by deep, jagged scars.
"You didn't exactly give me any warning you know, cāríssimus."

I maybe a witch I I do not speak dragon. Or is it dratonic?" She switched strands of hair before she knotted the one she was working on and twirled the new bit that she found with her fingers.

Shit he hadn't meant to say that out loud. Pulling the shirt over his head he turned back to her. "Nothing. I sneezed. Must be allergic to witch magic." Against his will pale eyes searched for her face. Anything. Thankfully her aura was enough to guide him. He reached out to touch her then hesitated before dropping it back to his side.
"It's safe now. I put away my claws." He offered a smile, showing off perfect teeth as he pushed his hair back out of his face. "If you ever do want to see the scales you're more than welcome to strip me at any moment."

His voice made her insides come to life. Like an abandoned theme park. Suddenly getting its power switched on for so long. "Whatever you say Dragon". When he said it was safe she turned adjusting her backpack on her shoulder and not meaning too giving him a quick scan up&down. Thriller thing he said made her smirk as she shook her head. "I told you if you would see my scars you wouldn't be saying that. You would actually be demanding me to leave which I would cau-" Right then when she was tucking her hair behind her ears which did not a damn thing and it bounced back going in different directions. She realized her hood was down and she reached for it and pulled it over her head. Oh god had he seen? Shit! "I'm I'll uh...where sleep?" She couldn't even speak oh fuck what if he had seen her. Did he? he isn't saying anything. The quiet grew for a few more seconds her loud beating heart. Filling the silence. Until he spoke.

Dragon frowned at the change in her demeanor, the shift in her emotions puzzled him and on some lower level alarmed him. Tilting his head he turned slightly trying to hear... anything after she'd spoke. It took him a while to register he question. "Feel free to explore." His smile returned, though not as bright as before.
"This is my room... obviously. There's another down the hall on the left but there's nothing inside but books." He rubbed the back of his neck as he nodded toward the door. "You can turn on the lights too. I usually leave them off."

She nodded "Thanks That sounds fine. I like the dark so no new to worry about the lights. Um...Did you..see? I'm sorry I forgot to..." she stared at him not knowing what else to say. What else could she. She sounds like an idiot thats slightly rambling. What had he thought. Maybe he juat wanted time to think about what he saw. Which is why he told her she could explore the house. "I know its...I'm sorry" Great now she was a babling idiot.

Frowning again, Dragon let out an incredulous laugh. She couldn't be serious with this. Honestly he couldn't care less about anything 'wrong' with her or her face. Besides it was irrelevant what she looked like. Especially now that she had become a warm glow in his eternal night. What kind of cruel things had people told her that she thought this way.
He reached out slowly, large hands finding her shoulders before moving slowly up along her neck. Next he traced across her jaw, then to her lips. Tenderly soothing his fingers over the scar he tilted his head at her, a small smile playing on his lips as he worked further upward. Nose and eyes, eye lashed, forehead; his fingers brushed against her hair, tucking it behind her ears.
"I see nothing wrong with you."

Speechless she was utterly speechless. No one had ever touched her like that. So...gentle and loving? No not loving...caring? No caring was not right either. Tender BINGO gentle and tender. His hands were so huge. And his face did not show an ounce of remorse or disgust. And he touched. He wants to touch it. Why had he done that!?! What.... He. Touched. Her scar... And he smiled!?!? Was this man insane? No he must be sick...or drunk. Maybe drugged? No he is definitely high. "No ones ever...touched it". She reached for his face gently touching his cheek and just cupping it staring into his eyes from the safety of her hood. Trying to find the why's and then...A thought popped into her head. No not why but where. Where in the fuck had he been. Then there was another voice over powering that one saying TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THAT OPEN UP YOUR GATE JUST YET! Her face felt wet with her fee hand she touched her cheek and felt a tear. Oh god now she was a crying idiot. Just perfect she pulled her hand away and moved her hands to wipe her eyes.

Letting his hands brush over her skin made her all the more real. Sometimes it was impossible to tell when he was dreaming or awake, but that was just another part of his curse wasn't it? He didn't want to go back to the empty prison he'd been in before he'd gotten a call in the middle of the night from a stranger. He'd like to think he'd found some purpose again and there she was, asking to stay with him. It didn't matter in the slightest why. Not to Dragon. He'd be her servant for eternity if it gave him some use.
Dragon stilled Marissa's hands, pulling them away from her face and wiped the tears away himself. "No need for any of that." He offered a gentle smile. "Come on. I'll show you around."

She stared at him at a loss for words. He was truly a gentleman. And his hands were so big but gentle as he wiped her tears away with his fingers. As if she was a delicate porcelain. His voice so sweet. She opened her mouth trying to say something. Anything but her words failed her. Who was he...Dragon. What an Odd name. For such a gentleman it was not fair. He deserved a name that suits him. But she had no right to even bring that up. Or tell him such a thing. He might be offended.
"Yes...thank you. Your very kind". She took a step back and decided to let him lead the way.

Dragon didn't respond to her comment but for a quick nod. She didn't know him well enough to know that he wasn't kind. He was trying for her and it came easily with her, but what he was... What he had been... She'd think otherwise if she knew. The past was the past though. He knew he couldn't change it, but perhaps with her help the future would be a black, abysmal pit in hell.
Pushing those thoughts away he lead her out of his room, and into the living room. Standard living space; couch, chair, coffee table. The TV however had been replaced with a surround sound stereo system, the entertainment center crammed with CD's and records. He didn't skimp on genre either. Everything from Deathmetal to Opera was stored somewhere on the shelves. If he didn't have music he might as well just stop breathing right now.
"Livingroom." He gestured around the space. "Kitchen." he nodded toward an open archway into a snug tilted flooring and marble counter tops. Coffee maker, stove, microwave, fridge, and a pantry stocked to over flowing with even he didn't know what. "And lastly." He moved through the livingroom, walking around the couch and coffee table, to a closed door.
"I guess you could call this my library." He pushed open the door to a circular room lined in full shelves, floor to ceiling, of books of all sizes. There was no furniture. Instead piles of fluffy pillows and blankets dotted the plush carpet. Stepping into the room the floor sun slightly, doubly cushioned as he had designed it to be laid on.
"This is my favorite room." He smiled brightly, reaching just inside the door to flip on the light so she could see as the room didn't have windows.

As he escorted her through his house. She smoled at how simple he was. Nothing fancy or flashy just what he needed. And the huge CD collection. Her eyes nearly flew out of her socket. And then as he inteoduced the new room his favorite room the library that she would be aleeping in. Her jaw dropped. And she blinked once...twice...three times. Rubbed her eyes and gawked at the room. This was her dream room! all those books holy shit! She took of her shoes at rhe door and stepped in onto the plush soft ground. And then rushed over running her fingers over the spines of the books. "Wow!" She said in a awestruck tone. The tips of her fingers brushed over as many books as she could get her hands on. And then this shade Of green cove stuck out. Curiosity took over and she leaned up on her tip toes and grabbed it. Turning the cover over and To read the title...wait. she turned it over on its back. Bumps. It was covered in bumps. But why how could he rea-... "Your BLIND!?!?!" She said in shock staring at his direction. How did she not know! Why hadn't he told her...oh wow. He can't see her.Wait he can't see her. That's why he wasn't all freaked out by her scar...although he touched it..and..lets just not dwell on that again. No need to get all emotional in this poor guys favorite room and then turn it into his most hated room. And Shit she was so rude how dare she just yell at him something he can't control. Its like him yelling at her. 'Your scar faced!' She took a few steps toward him and said "I'm so...Please forgive me. That was extremly rude of me. I didn't mean for it to come out that way...I ..I just..I didnt know.."

He smiled as she moved past him into the room, all but basking in her happiness. If he'd known she liked books this much he would've shown her this room first. Forget the rest of the house he could live in this room alone. His heart swelled, finally he was able to share this with someone who appreciated it as much as he.
Letting his hand trail over the spines of the books he turned his head in her direction. All the books were in brail so it wasn't likely that she'd be able to read them herself but he would read them to her. If she wanted. The image in his mind of the two of them, propped up on the pillows, her head on his shoulder as he read to her; too good to be true. He couldn't help but hope though.
He startled out of his revere at her voice, whipping his head around in the direction he hear and sense her to be in. How did she not know? Dragon laughed, nodding. "Yes. I have been for... a life time." His voice fell at those words, but he attempted to hide it with an even brighter smile. "I'm surprised it's taken you this long to notice. Usually it's one of the first things people notice."
He closed the distance between them, offering his hand to take the book. He hadn't heard her drop it or place it back on the shelf so he figure she must still have it. "It's okay. I actually get that a lot. Well... I used to. I don't go out much anymore." He laughed off her apology. He knew she hadn't meant it as an insult or stab at him, he was past the point of being offended by anyone pointing it out anymore. Plus he wasn't truly blind. Having been blessed with a sixth sense for picking up energy signals he could build a pretty solid picture in his head of the world around him. That was more than what other had and he was thankful for it. "Don't apologize... but how did you not know?" He tilted his head at her, an amused smile picking up the corner of his mouth.

"I just...you stared at me and..when I layed on the grass with you. I was just... in the moment just taking you in. Trying to figure out what your thinking. Not really paying attention to your eyes. And just now in your room and.. I couldnt tell at all". She glanced at the book he gently took from her grasp. "And uh...what's the name of that book. I love the color its a dark green". She paused for a second realizing that it was utterly pointless having her hood up if he was blind. So while he spoke she pulled her hood down. Feeling so strange having only done this in the privacy of her own home. Not in someone's else house. And in a way it felt liberating. Her thoughts went to her scar. How she wanted to ask him questions. So many questions. Why dod he touch it. Why didn't he recoil. Why was he so...gentle...and sweet. She wanted...no needed..Toni no more about him but how could she find out with out sound in nosy as hell?
