Coming in from outside, sword in hand, the sleeves of his white button up rolled up to leave his hands completely free. Black boots thudding toward the desk in the main office where Mathias sat as usual. His glasses falling off his face, unkempt brown hair falling into his face. Fane couldn't help but roll his eyes. Sometimes he felt he was the only person that could convince Matt to take care of himself. He set the sword down on the wooden desk with a loud thunk causing the older man to jump. "What the /hell/ was that for?!" Mathias instantly snapped at his colleague. "You were zoning again." Fane pointed to the black computer screen what Mathias had been staring at. "Go take a break. I'll take care of the new students for a while. And actually /sleep/ this time, Matt. No working on that 'project'.
Mathias narrowed his eyes at Fane as he pushed his glass up further on his nose. He sighed and ran a hand back though his hair before nodding. The caffeine and insomnia induced rage flowing away almost instantly. "Sure. And that 'project' is the single greatest achievement of my entire existence. Losing a little sleep over it is /nothing/ in the grand scheme of things." he picked up his hand and checked his watch. "I'll be back in a few hours..." he rubbed his eyes and offered an apologetic smile to Fane. "Sorry I snapped at you, Stef. You Know I never mean to."
Fane nodded and rolled his eyes, shooing Matt away. "Yeah-yeah-yeah-I know. Now get going. You /need/ sleep. Some food wouldn't hurt either." He sat down in the rolling chair as Mathias left, pulling the sword into his lap as he sat back and removed it from it's sheath to start shinning it up for another year of teaching. He was only in his 3rd year, but the students never really had complaints about his class and how he preferred to teach. He doubted this year would be any different.
One step, two. Three. Four. She walked down the hall, not sure where to go. She knew she would be welcomed here, but it was just getting used to this new place. She didn't even know where her dorm was. Not that she had anything to put in it beside herself. Looking up at the sign above the door, she finally found the main office. "Finally.." Moving as a man left the office she stepped in herself.
She wore a loose shirt, a sleeve hanging off her shoulder with a pleated skirt and short heels. A Blue butterfly clip in her hair, she brushed some of her blonde hair from her shoulder. Emerald looked to the man at the desk, giving a smile. "You look knowledgeable. I can find out where my dorm is here, right?" Her eyes locked on his, leaning forward to lean on the desk. He was.. quite attractive to say the least. "It would be nice to finally have a place to stay."
He lifted a brow at the girl who had just entered the office, sheathing the now shining sword and setting it off to the side. He produced a clip board and a pen for her to fill out the sheet provided. "I take it you're a mutant? You'll have to give me a demonstration of what you can do. Try not to break anything, try to keep it small, and don't hurt yourself." He crossed his arms looking her over; she didn't seem like the type that would make anything explode, but you never really can tell.
Seriously? She had to demonstrate? Sighing softly, she looked to the man behind the desk and crossed her arms over her chest. "Alright, alright. I mean.. I can't promise anything not breaking.." She smirked a bit. Within a few moments the electricity danced upon her finger tips, the light flickering on and off, the computer screen fighting to stay on. Without notice, the light in the ceiling blew. "Good enough?"
He ducked out of reflex when the light blew, the sword instantly in his hands and out of the sheath. He looked up at the light and sighed heavily. 'It's going to be a long year.' Turning his light golden eyes toward her he offered a fanged smile. "Nice... try not to cause any power outages." For the millionth time he sheathed the sword and sat back down to check the computer. Thankfully it was fine and he was able to log into the student files. "As soon as we can get you logged into the database I'll give you the keys to your dorm and you can get settled in, kay?"
Grinning lightly, she was quite pleased with the look on his face. "I'll do my best." She gave a smile now, and a small bow. "That would be perfect~" She purred. Seeing the fangs upon him giving a smile, her curiosity peaked. But she'd wait until she was registered. "So, what do you need to know?"

‎"First I'll need some form of ID to verify that you really are who you say you are. Then I'll need your name; first and last, middle initial, date of birth, last four numbers of your social security number, emergency contact, cell phone number, email address, and your license plate number for our Database." He looked away from the screen. "Then I'll need you to stand over to the left of the desk on that red X so we can get your photo for your new school ID. It's 5 dollars to replace it of it's lost or damaged. With it you can access the student parking lot, it's also your room key, and with it you also get free insurance until your graduate. Insurance covers any personal injury to yourself, but doesn't cover non-students or any property damaged." He looked up from the paper he was reading all that off of before setting them on the desk for her along with a map of the campus and a list of available classes along with required classes.
‎..Well, this was certainly a lot to ask for.. Then again, this would be where she was living.. "Okay.." She fumbled around in her purse before taking her wallet. She handed him a passport. "My name is Rapunzel Csilla Héderváry. Please, I prefer to be called Zel." She shifted, now seating herself in the chair in front of the desk. For a moment she looked a little nervous, and even a little hesitant. She then gave her cell phone number, and her social then stopped. "..I can give you the number for my mother and father back in Hungary.. They.. don't know I'm here though.. They weren't really thrilled with the idea of me coming here. Especially Apa.. He wanted me to stay home and didn't want anyone to know about my secret.." She shifted a little. "..And I don't have a car.. So.. Is that all..? Can I get my picture for the ID now..?"
Rapunzel? Now there's a name he hadn't heard since childhood. He Looked over her passport the at her, seeming to study her for a moment. He then turned back to the computer screen and continued typing in the information as he heard it, pausing only once to check how to spell her last name from the one on the passport. Once everything needed was in the system he stood up and tied the sword to his belt, causing the horse brasses to clash together and make a soft metallic clinking noise. "You really should tell your parents.." He typed his own information into the emergency contact blank. "and know that if they come looking for you that we can't hide you from them unless your wellbeing was at stake." He gave her a serious look then motioned toward the red X on the floor. "Please stand there."
"They think I'm hearing chasing my modeling career.." She frowned, furrowing her brow a little. Thankfully he didn't seem to push it further. "If something horribly bad happens, they're information will be readily available in my room. I have an address book with all the information you'll need to reach them.. I even have a calling card.." Watching him stand, she followed suit and went to stand on the x. Adjusting her shirt and then fixing her hair, including making sure that the butterfly clip was perfectly placed, she stood to ensure that she would have /the best/ id picture.
He arched a brow at the information that she was a model. Not something you come across everyday. "It's dealt with." he brushed it off and focused the camera on her face. "Ready in 3,2, 1.." He snapped the picture then typed in a few commands and printed her new ID/room key. After that he walked around the outside of the desk and retrieved the stack of papers she would need, making sure the map of the school was on top. "I'll see you in a few days for class, Zel." He smiled again held out the papers and ID for her.
Being completely ready for this picture to be taken, there was no way this wouldn't turn out perfectly. Once it was taken, she looked to him with a small smile. "I appreciate the help. Köszönöm~" Taking the papers into her arms, she looked to him. "Could you.. maybe.. possibly.. show me to my room?" She wanted to ask him about himself, but she didn't want to seem.. odd about it. Besides. Asking for help to find her room wasn't weird at all. She was knew here after all. "You're in the same class as me?" That would make sense. He looked around her age after all. "Maybe you could show me around and everything~ It would be nice to know my way around my new home, igen~?"
‎"Uh...You're.. welcome?" He almost said bless you it'd been so long since he'd heard Hungarian. She was from Europe the same as himself, and had traveled just about the same distance to get here. "There's a ma..." he looked around at the emptiness of the office. "... Sure." he smiled again, once again showing off the long interlocking canines and bicuspids on both the top and bottom teeth. He started toward the doors that would lead to the dorm rooms. "I'm not /in/ the same class as you. I teach it. It's the Defense class." He chuckled and held open the door for her.
Zel Héderváry She was quite happy that he seemed to understand her. She quite enjoyed speaking her native language. She couldn't help but let it slip out every so often. And she didn't care if anyone look at her with funny looks. That was her home, and she loved it dearly. Hearing him begin to speak again, she was nervous he was going to tell her know. And that would mean she'd have to admit to not knowing how to read a map.. Sure, she would learn quickly. But if she were to go alone now she would surely get lost. Seeing his smile again, she noticed how it just seemed to.. stun her. He was so handsome that it should be illegal. ..Wait. "..Y-You're the teacher?" Damnit! "But.. you look my age.." Grabbing her purse, she walked out the door and looked to him. "You must be messing with me. There's no way."
He chuckled and shook his head at her. How many times had he encountered this same subject? "I'm 23. This is my third year teaching." He looked over her shoulder at the number on her key card/ ID. Then nodded toward the elevator. "Your room is on the second floor." he hit the button then waited for the elevator to make the trip from the third floor. "The Defense class is required, it's outside, rarely in the actually classroom, not really any book work. Nothing like Mutant History."
‎"23..?" How much older was that from her? Five years..? "You look like you could be in your teens still. I hope I get that lucky." She grinned at him a bit. "I might be out of a job otherwise." Looking to her ID now, she noted how good her picture did turn out. And it was nice that the ID served as her room key. Thankfully she wasn't known to misplace things. "Really..? Do you possibly do like.. private sessions?" She glanced to him, her eyes glinting a bit. "I've never had to protect myself before.. And seeing as I'm a model, I've never really had a desire to learn. I would usually have a big strong man to watch after me~" So he would be teaching her defense.. She could certainly get used to living here and going to class.
‎"Well... Thank you. I'm not... really.. that old..." He blinked a few times then stepped into the elevator. "No. I don't give 'private lessons' to students unless they need the extra help. Are you nervous about being in a large class of people making fools of themselves?" He laughed. Everyone was a little awkward for the first week or so, but eventually they'd all settle in. Wait... was he actually /allowed/ in the student dorms like this..? He'd never really thought about it, but there's no way this could be appropriate. Matt would've smacked him. Once the elevator stopped he stepped out. "Alright, Zel, your room is just down the hall there. If you need anything else ask around. I'm sure the other students would love to make a new friend seeing as this floor is all new students."
‎"Tch. I've seen guys my age that look in the 30's. It's horrible." Leaning against the wall of the elevator, she watched him with an intrigued eye. ..And then he started to shut himself off it seemed. Emerald eyes blinked as they left the elevator. "You're not going to show me now..?" She frowned, looking to him. "I.. I guess I'll just.. see you later then..?" She wasn't too sure what she had done wrong.. She hadn't done anything out of the ordinary.. And she usually had the men all over her. In fact, it felt weird that he didn't seem at all interested. ..She had to admit, she would love to have a chance.. Anyway.. Guess it was time to find her way.. "..Thanks.."
"Uh... To be honest I really don't remember if I'm even allowed over here without some sort of emergency..." He waved to a couple of the elder students sheepishly as they walked by. "I guess I should mention that the dorms are co-ed and it's two people to a dorm. If that bothers you I'm sure Professor Holmes set something up. We didn't have as big of a turn out as last year so there are probably a lot of single rooms." He rubbed the back of his head with one hand, resting his other hand on the hilt of his sword. "Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance, but if you ever need anything I'll be outside or in my classroom. The door is covered with targets and horse shoes. Can't miss it~"
..Something made her think he was lying. Why wouldn't a teacher be allowed up here? "I would much rather to be alone.. If I must share, I will." She looked to him. He seemed nervous. She did something. She had to of. She didn't know what, but Zel had to have done something. He was acting normal before. "..Sorry if I creeped you out or something." She took a few good steps away from him. Oh god. He'd probably give her bad grades or something so she'd be kicked out of something. Then she'd have no home again. "I was going to ask but.. I probably shouldn't bother you anymore.. I seem to have over stepped something.. So.. I'll just try to find my room.. köszönöm.."
‎"Holmes should be off break in an hour or so..." He sighed and rolled his eyes at himself. He was probably just being paranoid. Perhaps he should ask one of his old students to show her around? "Zel, if you really want me too I can show you the room." He smiled apologetically at her, guesturing down the hall. "It's at the end of the hall. Let's go." He took a few steps in the right direction then turned back to hurry her along.
"I mean, if you're really that uncomfortable with it." She looked to him with a frown. She really didn't want to be on this guy's bad side. Suddenly he was walking ahead of her so she quickly followed. "I appreciate this.. So I have to ask.. What's your special talent?"
Monday at 6:39pm via mobile • Like
‎"My special talent...?" he laughed with a grimace. "I wouldn't exactly call it a 'talent' because it's more of a... Mutation. The physical kind." he skirted around the question, avoiding it as much as possible.
Zel Héderváry ‎"A mutation..?" She looked to him, her curiosity raising again. "So you change then?" She smiled at him. "It's nothing to be ashamed about. I'm proud of what I am." Walking down the hall a bit more she looked to him and grinned. "We're unique after all. People might frown upon us, but we should be proud of us. Apa was proud of me.. He was just afraid of the way the people would treat me if they knew. But they didn't want me to advance my.. talent in fear of me being taken away or something.."
"I'm in no way ashamed of my mutation. It's just hard to explain and harder to describe. I'd have to show you and that I prefer not to do. None of my students have seen it and I would like to keep it that way." he slipped the key card from her hands and pressed it to the door, causing a green light to flickers on before the door opened of it's own accord. "That's a reasonable fear for a parent. That's why most students are sent here. Oh and after security goes back to normal you'll have to use this to even enter the building. Non student guests aren't allowed."
None of his students? Well, Zel was naturally curious. She wanted to know. She couldn't help it, despite her mother /always/ telling her 'curiosity killed the cat'. "I see.." She seemed a little disappointed. But she wouldn't push him. Maybe she could catch it happen or something. "Well.. I guess I'm safe here now, right? No one will use me here as a power generator or something? I mean, if I'm asked nicely I'll do it gladly. But I don't want to be this place's personal power source." She looked to the door now as it began to open and her emerald eyes widened. "W-Wow.. This.." She was stunned. "This is amazing!" She grinned, now looking to him. "Now can you tell me where I can find stuff to make this place look like my own? ...Is that allowed?"
‎"No need to worry about any of that. We have a few back ups like Professor Lightening, who I'm sure you'll be spending a lot of time with." He chuckled at her and looked at the plain bare walls. You're allowed the paint and put up posters and pretty much design your own room as long as your roommate says it's okay. Just remember you have to pay for any damages done. Like nail holes in the walls and things like that." he shrugged. "But yeah. And I can get Ems to show you Neon City. That's where all the students go for fun and to shop and things like that."
‎"Well, you did say there was a good chance that I could have my own room.." She grinned, eying the walls. There was so much she could do with these bare walls. "..There's someone here that can control electricity like me?" She seemed pleased with that. .. And then she realized something. "Professor.. You never introduced yourself to me. Or I don't remember it.." Leaning against her doorway now, she couldn't help but eye him up and down for just a moment. "Do you think whoever this girl is would be able to handle the masses that could possibly be following me around? I don't want to overwhelm her."
‎"There is. If you catch Mathias--- Professor Holmes, in the right mood. And yes. There is a teacher that can control lightening, he'll be a big help to you." He frowned in thought thinking back. He never did... How odd of him. He extended a hand, smiling again. "Professor Ayres." he lowered his voice to a whisper. "But my students rarely call me that. Fane is perfectly acceptable." He smiled more brightly then returned to his normal vocal volume. "As for Ema? She's the heiress of a multi-million dollar fortune that owns most of Neon City. She gets a lot of publicity. If anything it'll get you noticed even more. Oh! And she's got connections if you know what I mean. Try to stay on her good side." He laughed then looked down at his beeping watch, a frown settling on his face. "Looks like I have a meeting to attend..."
‎"Well I will have to try then." And try she would. ..If only she knew who this Professor Holmes was.. Well, she would probably figure it out. It just had to be soon so she wouldn't miss her chance. Seeing his hand extend to her she smiled and took it, gently shook "Fane.." She would have to commit that to memory. It was weird calling her professor by his name and not his last. Hearing more about Ema though, she seemed like someone Zel would be able to get along with. "More noticed~? Perfect." She couldn't help but grin. ..And then his expression changed. ..He had to leave..? "Oh.. You should probably go then, huh..?" She frowned herself. "I'll see you around then I suppose.. I'm certainly glad you were the first person I met here.. I already feel more comfortable being here Fane.."
He smiled, happy to have helped then turned to leave. "It was a pleasure meeting you as well, Zel. I look forward to seeing you in class." And with that he disappeared down the hallway and into the elevator.
